A good book is always a necessity for a long flight or vacation on the beach. But what about before the trip? For any wanderlust you need a good book to inspire you to travel. When I am looking for inspiration for my next trip I turn to stories, guides and imagery. I have a few favorite books that help me plan and figure out which country or city I want to visit next. Of course I always end up booking a flight sooner than later…

Take a look at my top inspirational travel books:

1. The NY Times 36 Hours: 125 Weekends in Europe

The NY Times 36 Hours are some of my favorite books. Each guide has tips for seeing the best places and eating at the top restaurants in each city.

2. The NY Times 36 Hours: 125 Weekends USA & Canada West Coast

3. The NY Times 36 Hours: 125 Weekends Latin America & Caribbean

4. The NY Times 36 Hours: 125 Weekends Asia & Oceania

5. The Paris Journal

This was the book I could not put down. A quick but emotional packed read through a day in Paris. The imagery of words complimented with stunning photos, The Paris Journal helps you live a day in a magical city which will make you wish it was a month long.

6. Paris in Color

Eye candy would be the best way to describe this book. Photos all arranged by color make it hard to not plan a trip to Paris the next day.

7. Kinfolk Series

The Kinfolk Series is a monthly well designed magazine that gives a lifestyle perspective for traveling and visiting places in the US. The magazine features other lifestyle pieces from recipes to tips on how to live local.

8. Nat Geo: Journeys of A Lifetime, 500 of the World’s Greatest Trips

Who else to look to other than Nat Geo? An inspirational book to help develop a bucket list of places to go.

9. Luxury Hotels Best of Europe

Being in the travel world, there is nothing more that I appreciate then a great hotel. This is my go-to list for some of the top hotels in Europe.
