Boots, sweaters, and a warm cup of coffee make fall one of the best seasons of the year. With cooler days on the road, I am fan of layering clothes. Rolled tight, these essentials fit easily into the suitcase, making for multiple outfits.

Here are my 10 fall fashion essentials for travel:

1. The black bootie

There’s always a pair of black boots in my suitcase. They go well with a pair of cropped jeans, dresses, and can be dressed down or up. I just picked up these pointed toe ones, and these have been a staple in my closet.

2. The Long-Light coat

This is one of those items that never fails me — a good light coat. I love this army green one or this utility jacket.

3. Denim with a rip or two

Whether you prefer black or blue, ripped denim make for a good transitional jean before winter.

4. The Cashmere sweater

If it’s in between temperatures, I’ll skip the jacket and go with a sweater.

5. Aviators

Easily pairs with any outfit — like these solid black ones.

6. The Floral dress

I’ve been adding a floral dress to my rotation while traveling (like the one I wore here or here – can shop here or here) — it makes for an easy day dress and then can be worn at night.

7. An over-sized knit

Because it’s comfortable. I try to wear it on the plane so that I don’t take up room in my suitcase.

8. The nicer-than-a-workout sneaker

My travel shoe and my go-to while walking around a city, a good sneaker can never do any wrong.

9. A wide-brimmed hat

Felt hats always help with a bad hair day.

10. The crossbody

I love some of the great tan and natural colors out there right now, and make for a good fall accessory.
