The marriage of fine arts and the culinary experience of wine tasting come together at the iconic Peju Winery. Started by Tony Peju and his wife Herta, they had a vision for bringing together a destination where you could experience their passion for both.
As you drive along the 29 highway, this winery stands out from amongst most with the tall trees that hover over the driveway. Peju creates a destination for visitors to spend an afternoon enjoying wines, sun, and art. The gardens lie in the front of the French inspired tasting room, and make for an intro to the winery. Throughout the gardens are some of the family’s favorite art pieces that blend and compliment the architecture. Inside the winery there is always an exhibition from an artist for you to stroll through.
When you step into the tasting room, the building immediately captures your attention. The interior is adorned with stain-glass windows throughout, and has a high ceiling, creating an open feeling. I had the honor of trying a few of Peju’s classic wines that I had my eye on. The wines here are the ones you will not typically find in the store, if not at all. My personal favorites were the Provence, Cabernet, and Rose.
After the tasting, I walked around the beautiful gardens, and took in the scenic Napa Valley views. The time at Peju was both inspiring and memorable, I loved the artistic edge to a classic tradition of wine tasting.
