Heading out to the Sunshine Coast feels a bit like home down the California Coast. Chilled out beach towns, great surf, and a lot of bare feet. Each town along the coast has a different vibe, atmosphere and way of life.
Sunshine Coast, Australia Vacation Guide
Flying into Brisbane, we made our way to my sister-in-law’s town of Moolalaba. It’s a quaint beach town that is known for good surf and just a relaxing time. As it is a major holiday location, there are plenty of house rentals along the beach which make for a great experience. The sand is soft and views are great. You will find most people at the local cafes waking up to catch a surf, this area is known for it. For the best cafe in town for a coffee along the beach head to the Good Bean.
If you find yourself in the area for a bit, a great half day excursion is to drive up to Kondalilla National Park. On the way up there are breathtaking views of the coast which make for good scenery. In the park, waterfalls, wildlife and great nature is the main focus. Yes there are a few poisonous snakes, just watch your step.
Just up the coast lies the infamous beach town of Noosa. This is the Laguna beach of the coast. High end homes, luxury hotels and fine dining. The town is stunning and has a great surf spot. Along the town you can walk out to the point, watch the surf, look for dolphins or try to spot a koala in the eucalyptus forest. This town is definitely a different kind of beach town but a very nice and relaxing area. A good beach to go to with friends to enjoy some sun and chill vibes.
The Sunshine coast is a beautiful part of Australia and is a great spot to have on the itinerary. It is beach town after beach town north of Brisbane and is easy to get to by car. If you’re looking to settle down for a few days along the beach, this is the place to do it.
