Along the slice of heaven, better known as the Amalfi Coast of Italy, lies a small town called Ravello. Perched on the top of a mountainside, this quaint place has rivaling views looking out across the Mediterranean Sea. Naturally where else would you put one of the best, luxury hotels in the world? Belmond Hotels has done it again and has done it well. At the entrance of Ravello, down the brick road, lies an old historic palace that has been transformed into the current Hotel Caruso. As you enter inside, the fresco walls, a warm smile, and a greeting of “Welcome to the Caruso” will quickly sweep you off your feet. This is my review of the Belmond Hotel Caruso ( a Leading Hotels of the World property)…
I found myself itching to walk right by the concierge as I could see the beginning of the view. The entrance would be difficult to call a lobby as it is more of an art gallery featuring old world paintings, Italian furniture, and natural walls. As you come out onto the balcony, what you see is something else. Lush mountainsides, little towns across the coastline and of course the Mediterranean Sea. Belmond Hotels knows how to capture the essence and culture of every location and they have turned this hotel into a working piece of art with fine touches. Being invited to breakfast, I could see why most people would linger for a few hours to enjoy fresh croissants and espressos. The patio for breakfast sits at the top floor of the hotel and looks out over the Amalfi Coast. Fun fact, the Hotel Caruso changes out all of the pastries every 30 minute to maintain freshness for all of the guests.
One of my favorite parts about walking through the hotel were all of the secret spots you could find yourself at. Lunch on terrace, sun bathing on the green grass, the infinity pool, the olive trees, the gardens, and so much more. Every turn there was a new moment worth capturing. The Belmond has so much to offer when it comes to enjoying your holidays. The spa on property of course is one of my favorite choice, swim at the infinity pool, take the complimentary shuttle to a nearby town to discover Italy, or take an easy walk to experience Ravello.
The rooms were a keystone to falling love this romantic hotel. Whether you wanted a room with a terrace that overlooked the sea, or a room with a private garden, the Hotel Caruso had it all. My favorite room was the exclusive suite with terrace, private gardens and a three floor bathroom. To say it was luxurious would be an understatement. It was extravagant and tastefully done. With Italian furnishings, unique art, and well appointed amenities, this was the room you never wanted to leave.
If you prefer more of a view of the coastline, the room with a terrace would do just fine for you. As no room is decorated the same, you felt as if you were in someone’s house that had been specifically designed just for you. The tile work on the floor was refined, the linens beautiful and the room spacious for enough for a king. The Belmond made this hotel totally unforgettable.
If you find yourself in Ravello, Italy (which you should), the Belmond Hotel Caruso is a great choice for those looking for luxury, attention to details, and views to remember.
Bon Travels Xx!
