I had the pleasure of living in Barcelona for a little while, and there’s no denying that it opened my eyes to the wonders and bold flavors of Spanish cuisine. In addition to staple dishes like tapas, Barcelona is also known for its fresh and simple seafood. Every week that we lived in the city, we would choose a new restaurant to go try. The list was endless.

El Xampanyet transports visitors back in time to Old Barcelona. It has been around since 1929 and specializes in sparkling wine (as the name suggests) and classic tapas. For me this is a Barcelona classic, we ate here almost once a week it is so so good.

If you’re looking for traditional tapas and a sommelier-approved wine list, Bar Mut is a must. The space is smaller but has that quaint and charming European gastro-bar appeal.

Besta is a Michelin Guide-recommended cafe that specializes in Mediterranean and Atlantic seafood. The plates are designed to be shared, so be sure to come here with fellow seafood lovers.
