Out of all the places seen in Australia, this place was my favorite. There was something about the relaxed atmosphere, care for quality food, and adorable streets that made Byron Bay a special place. Byron Bay is the town by the sea and lies in the most easterly part of Australia.

Byron Bay, Australia Vacation Guide

There is much to do here from surf to spa, hiking, top cafes, and the infamous Cape Byron. The shopping is a fun, unique experience as there are plenty of cute boutiques booming with new designers. Byron demands a “take it as you go” way of life. If the weather is good, head to the beach. If it is raining, head to a cafe and enjoy a good latte and book. One of the fun parts about Byron is just exploring the countless streets and driving around until you find the place you want to hang.

For food, I have a few recommendations. We stumbled upon this place called Top Shop over on the way to the lighthouse. The food was amazing, great burgers and sandwiches and awesome fresh juices. Being that Australia is known for coffee, there is really just one place to go to in Byron time and time again. Bayleaf Cafe in the heart of downtown. Using some of the best beans around (Marvell St Roasters), the coffees are on point. It is also a top location for breakfast as well. The food is inventive and playful.

Another great option for a cafe or breakfast is over at the Hundred Mile Table in the arts district. It is a beautiful space that appeals to the eye and the coffee is tasty as well.

Dinner is tough, and as we came to learn, there are really two main restaurants who are exceeding at what they do. The first is Traditional Thai. This was hands down some of the best Thai food I had ever had. If you ready through the reviews, most people mention they would eat there two nights in a row. Recommendation: order the crispy soft shell crab in the eggnet and the Singapore noodles with bbq pork.

The other restaurant that is doing genius things is a pizzeria over in Mullumbimby called Milk & Honey. This chef is taking pizza to a whole other level with creative toppings and the ever so perfected crust. A bit of a drive (about 20 minute from Byron) makes it worth it as you will have the appetite for some of the best pizza around once you order.

Overall Byron is a playful town that sets the mind at ease and makes everyone fall in love. It was the hardest place to leave, perhaps it was our spa stay at the Byron at Byron or the amazing fresh food, either way I can’t wait to come back.
