Morocco has a wide range of accommodations, with riads being the traditional places for travelers to stay. A riad is a Moroccan house that typically has a pool or fountain inside an inner-courtyard. Marrakech's medina boasts many riads, and after two nights at the Riad Yasmine, I can see why it stands out from the rest.
As you walk into this Marrakech medina riad, you pass through a hallway. It opens up to a bright tiled-courtyard, lavished in greens and the quaintest of seating areas. You feel relaxed immediately — somehow the noise of the city completely disappears and it is ever so peaceful. With a greeting from the owners Gabriel and Alice, a hot mint tea with biscuits is served poolside. I couldn't have thought of a better way to start my trip in Morocco then at the Riad Yasmine.
The traditional riad has 7 rooms that are all decorated individually but kept to the Moorish style. The inner-courtyard features a dipping pool, and an indoor seating area. At night we came here for their dinner, which was prepared with local ingredients and classic Moroccan dishes. At the rooftop, views expand over the medina, providing one of the best places to catch sunset in the city. In the morning, breakfast with fresh juices and pastries is served at the rooftop making a magical way to start the day.
With well-decorated rooms, the Riad Yasmine felt like a traditional Moroccan home. Wood detailing made the walls pop with incredible details. The bathroom had a soaking tub that doubled as a shower — it was hard not to take a soak every night. Afterwards, crawling into the spacious bed was incredibly comfortable and meant a good night's sleep was in tow. The room was ever-so cozy, making for an easy stay in Marrakech.
The Riad Yasmine was an oasis within the chaos of the medina, and couldn't have been better located. Footsteps to almost everything in Marrakech meant you could be on your way to explore in no time and be back for a retreat in the heart of the city. This medina riad is truly a special stay and so much more than the photos (it is incredibly photogenic!). The owners go into great care and detail to ensure a stay that is intimate and helps provide you with a local experience in Marrakech.
