The bustling city of Berlin has a lot to offer to those who travel far. From a bit of a jagged past to an absolutely thriving present, Berlin should be on the top of everyone’s travel list. The capital city of Germany is full of history, architecture, food, and entertainment making it not hard to imagine why millions of people have decided to call it home.
There is so much to do in this eclectic city and here are five things to add to the list.

1. Check out Brandenburg Gate
Now a symbol of unity, Brandenburg Gate is one of the most well known landmarks in Germany. Head to Central Berlin to see the magnificent structure.
+Tip: Spend the whole day in Central Berlin, with other historical sites near by, such as Holocaust Museum, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Reichstag, there will be plenty to keep you busy.
2. Experience Museum Island
With five museums to choose from, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a stunner. Museum Island is home to some of the most spectacular exhibits that is sure to leave you breathless. Between the Pergamonmusem, Bodemuseum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and Altes Museum, there are plenty of artifacts to enjoy.
+Tip: A highlight is sure to be the Ishtar Gate of Babylon located within the Pergamonmuseum.
3. Be Stunned by the Views from the Fernsehturm
Want to see Berlin in one day? Head to this TV tower that is now a tourist highlight. While it might be crowded, the views are second to none. On a clear day, you will be able to see a sweeping 360 view of the city.

4. Take a Stroll in Prenzlauer Berg
What was once part of East Berlin is now a thriving neighborhood. This unique neighborhood is overflowing with restaurants, galleries, shops, and entertainment. Rent a bike from a local shop to explore this area
+Tip: Prenzlauer Berg has a plethora of restaurants to choose from. A favorite is Umami — an Asian Fusion restaurant that will undoubtably have you coming back for more
5. Grab a Currywurst and Walk Through Mauerpark
Just a classic bratwurst topped with a curry ketchup, this delicacy is a staple when traipsing around Berlin. Be sure to pick one up and head over to the Berlin Wall Park. What was once a place of division is now a place of community — complete with beer gardens and a popular flea market, hanging out in Mauerpark is the perfect way to spend an afternoon
