If you’re planning a trip to the Bordeaux region of France, chances are a wine getaway is top of mind. Any quick search and you’ll find Les Sources de Caudalie as one of the best choices in wine country. Tucked into the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Les Sources de Caudalie offers a memorable experience.
On a recent trip to Bordeaux (or rather a long stay, six-plus weeks in the city), I had the chance to stay overnight at Les Sources de Caudalie. Checking in with Kiwi Collection on an invited stay, I had a first-hand experience of what it’s like to stay here.
Driving up to the hotel and its grand entrance with my husband and 10-month-old daughter, it was love at first sight. Alice and Jérôme Tourbier have created an absolute oasis. Rustic, local materials and charming elements define the design and architecture of this hotel. Inside, modern and very warm tones bring in the natural surroundings. What I loved most about this hotel was just how integrated into its surroundings it all felt.
From a dip in their grand indoor pool to experiencing their gastronomic dining, every element at Les Sources de Caudalie was refined. Memorable to say the least, I’ll cut to the chase now — it’s well worth a stay and visit. It makes for a great experience for those wanting to be in wine country, have incredible food, enjoy time at a spa, and sip excellent wine.
So if you’re considering booking a stay at the Les Sources de Caudalie, I’m giving a full look at our experience.

The Hotel Amenities
Restaurants At Les Sources de Caudalie
Gastronomy is at the core of Les Sources de Caudalie’s offering and is something that shouldn’t be missed during a stay. There are three restaurants: La Grand’Vigne which has been awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide, La Table du Lavoir which is elevated bistro dining, and wine bar ROUGE. Each offers a unique experience and what I love is that you can do a bit of all during your stay.
My first recommendation is to book far in advance for a table at La Grand’Vigne to experience their fine dining. It was one thing I wish we could have done but will have to save for next time. Other guests raved about the food and experience, highlighting how great the cuisine was.
Go to La Table du Lavoir for an elevated lunch or dinner. We stopped in for lunch here and it was one of the best meals on the trip. I loved the space under the wooden framework of the building lined by a pond. And finally, ROUGE is a great spot for casual tapas and an excellent selection of regional wines. It was where we went for dinner our first night and loved that we could sit out on the terrace.
Spa And Fitness
The Vinothérapie spa at Les Sources de Caudalie is one of the main highlights of a stay. If you’re not familiar with the brand Caudalie, it’s an iconic beauty line from France and is sold internationally. So a chance to get to do a facial or spa treatment with their vine-inspired products is a must-do.
In the spa, there is a natural spring that surfaces water to their natural water bath which you can soak in as part of your treatment. From massage to other rituals, I would recommend booking one of their treatments prior to your arrival.
Part of staying at Les Sources de Caudalie is getting to experience their two pools as well. One is indoors, and the outdoor pool is heated during the fall and winter months. Both are beautiful and incredibly relaxing.
Les Sources de Caudalie is set in the heart of Martillac with an unbeatable location next to the winery, Château Smith Haut Lafitte. It’s one of the experiences that would be well worth booking in advance during your stay. They offer guided tours through the vineyard with a tasting at 22 euros a person.
On property, you’ll find the two pools, spa, bikes available, and a fitness center. There are a plethora of activities offered daily on property like even forest bathing and yoga. Discover all of their on-property activities here.
What really sets Les Sources de Caudalie apart is the range of room categories available. With 40 rooms and 21 suites, you can have very different experiences pending on which room you book. We stayed in a lovely comfort suite that had a spacious room that opened out into the garden with a small terrace. It was clean in design, modern, and had beautiful antique touches.
Some of the other rooms I would consider booking is the L’Île Aux Oiseaux which is a private cabin-style room that sits out over the pond. There is only one of these rooms so be sure to book in advance.
Our stay at Les Sources de Caudalie was just what we needed. A break from city life, a chance to immerse in nature, and experience exceptional regional cuisine. For those looking for a unique opportunity to spend time in France’s top wine region, this is the place to book.
