Whether a wine tasting weekend or a spa escape, these are the best hotels in the Napa Valley. Located in Northern California and about an hour from San Francisco, the Napa Valley is an iconic destination. Home to some of the best wineries in the world, it’s one of our top destinations.

One thing that I love about the area is that you don’t have to come for just the wine. Many of the Napa Valley hotels are resorts with spas and plenty of amenities. This means it’s the perfect spot to go escape to for the weekend. It’s an ideal place to go for a girls’ weekend away or a romantic trip.

Napa Valley is often used to describe the entire region. It’s good to know that there are a few distinct areas within the valley. It starts from American Canyon to downtown Napa, then eases into Yountville, Oakville and Rutherford, St. Helena, and then Calistoga. Each of the areas is quite spread out so where you choose to book a Napa Valley hotel depends on where you want to visit.

My recommendation is to pick a hotel in Napa Valley that will suit your needs. If you’re headed during the summer, I’d recommend one with a pool as it does get quite hot. Plus, being poolside in the valley is a wonderful way to spend the day!

Here’s a look at the best Napa Valley hotels for your adventure in wine country!

ALiLa Napa Valley in St. Helena

One of the newest reopenings in the valley is Hyatt Hotel’s ALiLa Napa Valley. A luxury hotel set with every amenity you can think of makes it a great choice in the Napa area. With luxe and spacious suites, some with vineyard views, you’re in a stunning setting.

What I love about this hotel is the location. You can easily walk to downtown St. Helena and visit the shops and restaurants. Plus, you’re footsteps from the iconic Beringer Vineyard, so be sure to book a tasting there too. Read the full review here on ALiLa Napa Valley.

Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford

It’s no secret that this is the most luxurious hotel in the area and certainly the most expensive. Tucked up in the hills of Rutherford, the Auberge du Soleil is a private retreat hotel with every amenity you can think of.

A sprawling pool, a restaurant with Napa Valley views, and spacious suites are just a few of the highlights. If you’re looking to experience Napa Valley like a celebrity, I’d book here.

Bardessono Hotel & Spa in Yountville

One of the more modern hotels in the area, Bardessono is a chic getaway right in the heart of downtown Yountville. Its convenient location means that after a day of wine tasting, you can walk right into town.

Set with its own spa and a beautiful rooftop pool, the Bardessono combines wine country luxury with in-town amenities. The rooms here are wonderfully designed and you won’t be disappointed — especially the ones with outdoor showers and soaking tubs.

Hotel Yountville in Yountville

For those looking for Napa Valley classic luxury, Hotel Yountville is it. Footsteps from downtown Yountville, the upscale hotel is a wonderful boutique stay. They even offer bikes to use, which I’d recommend a ride through the nearby vineyards.

The all-suite accommodations here make it feel extra plush and you won’t want to miss a day of sunbathing by their pool.

North Block Hotel in Yountville

I had to include North Block Hotel as I think it’s one of the best budget options that are actually wonderful in the valley. When I say budget, that is in comparison to the average rate for a luxury hotel in Napa Valley.

North Block Hotel has a chic, hacienda-style atmosphere to it and the cluster of buildings leads up to their private pool. You’re not far from downtown Yountville and around the corner from French Laundry.

You can snag some great mid-week rates here, so I’d recommend taking a look!

Harvest Inn St. Helena in St. Helena

If there is one word to describe the Harvest Inn, it’s “charm”. 81 luxurious rooms make up this wonderful inn surrounded by towering redwoods and vineyards. It’s classic luxury yet elevated with today’s modern amenities.

The grounds are incredibly beautiful and you can’t go wrong with a vineyard-view room set with a brick fireplace.

Meadowood Napa Valley in St. Helena

A classic to Napa Valley, Meadowood Napa Valley is an icon of the area. Though it did suffer damage from the previous years’ fire, they’re slowly reopening portions of the hotel.

I’ve stayed here once and the service and dining are at the top of their game. I’d recommend considering this hotel for an upscale trip when their Michelin restaurant reopens. Check directly with the property for the most up-to-date information.
