If you’re looking to get out of the city and plan a special getaway to the Catskills, the Piaule Catskill Hotel should be at the top of your list for accommodations! This stunning hotel takes inspiration from Japanese and Scandinavian architecture and decor, setting the scene for a luxe stay.
I had the pleasure of visiting Piaule Catskill this fall with my family, and we truly had the best time. Everything from the design to the focus on wellness to the surrounding nature worked together to create a harmonious atmosphere that made the stay feel like a true vacation. It was wonderful to end our time in the Hudson Valley over in the Catskills for some rest.
That said, the cabins are definitely the main highlight of this hotel. The modular cabins provide ample privacy and exclusivity, and there really are few hotels that compare in terms of experience. So, without further ado, here is my full rundown and review of Piaule Catskill Hotel!

If you’re looking to truly immerse yourself in the nature of the Catskills while still experiencing top-notch luxury, Piaule Catskill is the ultimate spot. We truly loved our time here, and since the hotel is only a couple of hours away from NYC, it’s perfect for a weekend getaway!
The Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired interior is a minimalist’s dream. When it comes to the rooms, the cabins provide a solid sense of privacy and exclusivity without isolating guests. Though it isn’t the most kid-friendly property I’ve visited given how quiet it is here, we still had a wonderful experience with Sophie, and I would 1000% return. That said, I highly recommend Piaule Catskill if you’re planning a trip to Hudson Valley anytime soon!
The Hotel Amenities
Restaurants At Piaule Catskills
The on-site restaurant at Piaule Catskill is literally called “The Restaurant” (which is pretty fitting for the hotel’s minimalistic theme). My favorite part of the restaurant was hands down the floor-to-ceiling windows. Being able to watch the fog roll in and change the lighting in the restaurant was super cool and immersive.
I also loved the warm wood interior! This plus the stunning mountain views were truly complementary. The cozy fireplace also acts as the perfect focal point of the room. The Restaurant is headed by executive chef, Ryan Tate, and focuses on seasonal fare. The majority of the ingredients used are sourced from local farmers, resulting in fresh and vibrant dishes that match the overall feel of the hotel.
*Breakfast is complimentary as part of your room rate and there are additional items you can order for a charge.
Spa And Fitness
The spa at Piaule Catskill is a true gem. I was beyond pleased with everything from the setting to the unique experiences offered, especially since some hotel spas can be hit or miss.
The spa is a short walk away from the cabins, giving it a very serene and peaceful vibe. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by stunning plunge pools that ease you into the perfect mindset before your treatment. There are also nice saunas and a steam room for extra detoxification.
Unlike many other hotel spas, the spa at Piaule Catskill is exclusive to hotel guests, allowing for even more privacy and space while using the spa facilities. In addition to standard massages, the spa also offers immersive sound baths and breathwork meditation.
When it comes to fitness, guests can sign up for both group and private classes. If you’re into yoga, the studio here is stunning and I highly recommend getting at least one practice in during your stay!
The Rooms
Like I said before, the cabins at Piaule Catskill really are one-of-a-kind. They’re all built so that they appear to be floating, making you feel as though you are sleeping among the treetops.
The cabins truly immerse you in nature. Though they aren’t huge, they are spacious enough to be super comfortable yet cozy. One of the coolest things about each cabin at Piaule Catskill is the fact that no two cabin views are the same!
If you love waking up to the sun or fresh forest smells, you’ll appreciate the glass wall that sits in front of each bed. In fact, the wall slides open up, allowing you to get some fresh air at your leisure. When it comes to the bathroom, the heated floors provide the ultimate touch of luxury. I also adored the waterfall shower that gave a sneak peek at the tall treetops outside.
Overall
Whether you’re an out-of-towner or an NYC local looking to get away, I highly recommend staying at the Piaule Catskill. Everything from the modernist architecture to the subtle details in each cabin to the exceptional service blew us away.
Though it’s not the most kid-friendly hotel, it’s a fine option if you’re traveling with kids under two, and we had a great time with our girl. The sense of privacy and peace that we were able to experience during our stay was something really special and rare, and it really was the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Overall, my family and I had an incredible time and I would absolutely stay here again.

Use Booking.com for hotels and guest houses. They have the biggest inventory and consistently offer the best rates.
3. Book Your Tours & Experiences
Use Viator or Get Your Guide to find the best tours and experiences. They are my favorite tour search engines. I always check both as their inventory varies depending on the destination.
4. Book Your Car
Use Discover Cars or Rentalcars.com to find the best car rental deals. I recommend comparing rental agency reviews on Google to ensure you are booking with the best company in that destination, as the reviews are often more accurate than the car rental search engines.

I’ve been a member for over a decade, and having a comfortable place to relax before and between flights makes air travel so much more enjoyable.
6. Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
I never leave the country without travel insurance. It provides comprehensive protection in case anything goes wrong (ie. illness, injury, theft, and cancelations, etc.). I use it frequently for my travels to stay protected.
My favorite companies that offer the best coverage and rates are:
- World Nomads (best for all-around)
- Safety Wing (best for frequent travelers)
