If you find yourself in Melbourne or surrounding area, a trip to the Yarra Valley is a great day itinerary. Only about an hour outside of the city, this area is filled with some stunning wineries.

Sure it may not be the wine tasting in Napa Valley, but I found it more intriguing and a better experience for a few reasons. First off it’s not packed and touristic. These are top wineries doing what they do best. Most of the wineries have restaurants attached to it so I found that often the focus was both on wine and food.

Yarra Valley, Australia Wine Tasting Guide

The Yarra Valley has beautiful rolling hills lined with eucalyptus trees, and vineyards for as far as the eye can see. During our day trip out there we saw a few of the top spots and ate two different places.

The wineries

1) Yering Station
2) Stones at the Yarra Valley
3) Innocent Bystander

Overall a trip to the valley makes a great break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s a great opportunity to see the stunning countryside of Australia and get a true taste of the wine culture.

Thanks Adam & Melissa for a memorable day and taking us around!
