Santa Ynez Valley is truly one of the most breathtaking areas of central California. From Los Olivos to Los Alamos, Santa Ynez Valley is abundant in charming towns, top-notch wineries, and rolling vineyards. Whether you’re looking to find your new favorite pinot noir or you’re hoping to explore the impressive food scene, Santa Ynez Valley is an absolute must-see for locals and tourists alike.

On a recent trip through Central California, I had the opportunity to stay in the valley at Hotel Ynez. It was a wonderful base for the time there. The whole valley is vibrant with wineries, restaurants, and quaint charms. You can check out my guide to Santa Ynez here.

Hotel Ynez

Hotel Ynez is a beautiful boutique hotel that sits on two pristine acres of lush land. Despite the fact that this Santa Ynez hotel has a more casual and bohemian feel, it is still very elegant and cozy. Basically, you get really nice amenities in a stunning setting for a very fair price.

If you visit during the warmer seasons, you’ll definitely want to spend some time lounging by the pool. There are also some great fire pits on the rustic outdoor pavilion where you can gather for a glass of local wine under the Santa Ynez stars in the evenings. Though it’s technically located in Solvang, it is farther away from the main strip that has all of the restaurants and tasting rooms, giving you a more quiet and private experience.

Fess Parker Wine Country Inn

Located in the heart of Los Olivos, the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn is a stunning accommodation that is great for those who prefer a little extra luxury. After undergoing a pretty big remodel, the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn now has cozy rooms that maintain a coastal California charm with wonderful amenities.

The best part about booking a room here is the fact that all of the amazing Los Olivos tasting rooms are within walking distance. There is nothing quite as relaxing as being able to spend your days strolling and shopping around town without having to worry about driving to and from each tasting room. The Fess Parker Wine Country Inn is also home to Nella, which is one of the most beloved restaurants in Santa Ynez Valley.

Landsby

If you’re looking for modern accommodations in downtown Solvang, The Landsby is going to be your best bet. Rather than having the typical Danish style that most buildings have in Solvang, The Landsby has a more contemporary exterior that is matched by a bohemian-inspired interior.

Overall, this hotel is very chic and stylish, and everything from the rooms to the lobby to the outdoor patio has a cohesive aesthetic. The onsite restaurant Mad & Vins is one of the best places to have dinner in Solvang, and the menu features a lot of coastal California cuisine and farm-to-table dishes.

Ballard Inn

For those seeking Santa Ynez travel that is a bit more off the beaten path, Ballard Inn is a dream come true. This idyllic and picturesque inn is right in between Los Olivos, Solvang, and Santa Ynez, making it a great place for those hoping to explore all three locations.

There are 15 different rooms at the Ballard Inn and they are all uniquely decorated. It definitely has a traditional appeal with modern and clean decor. Since Ballard Inn is more of a bed and breakfast style accommodation, they even offer wine and appetizers to guests in the evenings. There is also a hotel restaurant that serves American fare.

Alisal Guest Ranch

Ever wondered what it’s like to stay at a luxury dude ranch? Alisal Guest Ranch offers an experience that is truly unlike any other. Sitting on 10,500 acres of pristine Santa Ynez land, Alisal is an immerse accommodation that does not skimp on the amenities.

Between the authentic Western decor and the rolling hills that surround the property, you’ll be in pure bliss at the picturesque ranch. In addition to standard guest rooms, there are also beautiful suites and cottages at Alisal. They have everything from massive ranch cookouts to a serene spa, making it easy to live it up without even leaving the property.

Skyview Los Alamos

Skyview Los Alamos is a retro motel that has a stylish aesthetic and cozy vibe. Upon arriving, guests are greeted by the massive, vintage “MOTEL” sign. However, the interior of the hotel is very modern and artsy, creating a cool contrast.

If you want to spend one day relaxing at the hotel, there is plenty to do. In addition to the swimming pool and outdoor fire pits, there is also an onsite restaurant and bar called Norman, and it’s a great place to indulge in some California cuisine (and wine, of course). Though it is not right on Bell Street, all of the best wineries and eateries are only a short bike ride or drive away.

Bodega House

Though some prefer the traditional structure and amenities of a hotel, Bodega House is great for those who enjoy the privacy and independence of an Airbnb. The decor and design of Bodega House are seriously straight out of a magazine, with bohemian accents and a crisp, clean farmhouse aesthetic.

In addition to a small kitchen and two sleeping areas, this Airbnb also has an adorable patio where you can enjoy your morning coffee in peace. Best of all, Bodega House sits on the same property as Bodega Wine Bar, meaning that you can literally walk a few steps over to taste some of the best wine in Los Alamos. While Bodega House can technically fit up to four people, it is ideal for two travelers since it’s not the biggest space.

Mirabelle Inn

The Mirabelle Inn is a boutique hotel in the heart of Solvang. The exterior matches the rest of the Danish architecture found throughout this unique town, and the hotel itself seriously looks like something out of a fairytale.

There are only 12 guest rooms in the entire hotel, making it feel sort of like an intimate bed and breakfast. If you’re a foodie, you’ll love the fact that First & Oak Restaurant is onsite, making it easy to indulge in a fine dining dinner during your stay.

The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern Auberge Resort

As a part of the Auberge Resort collection, you can expect nothing but the best while staying at The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern. Keep in mind that this resort isn’t opening until September of this year, so you won’t be able to plan a trip here until the fall.

That being said, this luxury accommodation is sure to be worth the wait! From bike rides through the vineyards to hanging with the horses on the ranch, The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern really immerses guests in the lifestyle of Los Olivos. Though it is a more exclusive and private accommodation, it is still very close to the main strip of tasting rooms in Los Olivos along with some stunning surrounding vineyards.
