Looking to combine incredible dining with your stay? I think you’ll love this list of the best hotel restaurants in Northern California. While hotel restaurants may not always have the best reputation, this list shows just the opposite.

In fact, many Northern California hotels are home to some of the most renowned restaurants in the state! It’s no surprise that truly the top restaurants are located inside a hotel. It makes it very convenient for guests to stroll down and grab a seat at a top-tier restaurant. And for those visiting, what better place to cozy up for a meal?

From Michelin-starred eateries to cozy spots with ocean views, Northern California hotels go above and beyond when it comes to on-site restaurants. Whether you’re a seasoned local or a first-time visitor, here’s my list of the best hotel restaurants in Northern California!

The Best Hotel Restaurants in Northern California

1. Nick’s Cove at Nick’s Cove Tomales Bay

Nick’s Cove is one of my absolute favorite places for a nearby escape. However, even if we aren’t able to book a room for a night or two, we always stop by the restaurant when we’re in the area.

The oysters are a must-order, but all of the seafood is incredibly fresh. All in all, Nick’s Cove is a solid spot for amazing seafood and hazy bay views. For more information on a stay, see what it’s like staying at Nick’s Cove and check out my guide to the Point Reyes area.

Address: 23240 CA-1, Marshall, CA 94940

2. Madera at Rosewood Sand Hill

The Rosewood Sand Hill is a luxe accommodation right outside of Palo Alto. Whether you’re looking for an upscale brunch spot or a special place for dinner, Madera serves elevated cuisine all day long.

If you can, snag a spot on the patio and take in the stunning views of the pool and surrounding olive trees. When it comes to Northern California hotel restaurants, Madera has managed to impress some of the most particular critics.

Address: 2825 Sand Hill Rd, Menlo Park, CA 94025

3. Acacia House at Alila Napa Valley

Acacia House has a very cozy and homey atmosphere and specializes in fresh, Southern-inspired dishes. Sourcing locally and sustainably is also a huge priority at Acacia House.

Despite the fact that the menu is refined and elegant, Acacia House is a bit more relaxed and laid-back when compared to many other Northern California hotel restaurants. We’ve had the pleasure of staying at Alila Napa Valley, and adored our experience here.

Address: 1915 Main St, St Helena, CA 94574

4. Farmhouse Restaurant at Farmhouse Inn

Everything at Farmhouse Restaurant works together to create an unforgettable meal for diners, from the food to the service to the wine list. The six-course tasting menu goes for $175 per person, with an optional wine pairing for an additional $125.

The menu is constantly changing based on what proteins and produce are locally available through the seasons. One of the best perks if you do choose to stay at the Farmhouse Inn, is that breakfast is included for the stay. The breakfast is hosted inside the main restaurant and features a few courses with the most delicious ingredients. Read more about our weekend at the Farmhouse Inn.

6. Layla at Macarthur Inn

If you’re looking for a light and airy restaurant in the heart of Sonoma, Layla should be at the top of your list. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is enhanced by the use of locally-sourced and organic ingredients that truly shine across every dish. We really loved the seasonal dish when we stayed here, it was a roasted pumpkin toast with cheese. I love when restaurants bring in something for the season like this! For me, this is one of the best hotels and restaurants in Northern California. It makes for a wonderful stop on a Northern California Coast road trip and is a bucket list stay in of itself. 11. TRUSS at Four Seasons Napa Valley

When it comes to a fancy dinner in wine country, TRUSS is always at the top of my list. The mountain views plus a glass of wine while sitting on the open patio is always a luxe experience that never gets old.

One recommendation is to arrive early and enjoy a sunset cocktail out on the patio by the firepit before sitting down to dinner. A stay at the Four Seasons Napa Valley is a wonderful wine country getaway — read more about our recent stay here.
