Mallorca is known for its turquoise waters, vibrant cuisine, and endless olive groves. It is without a doubt one of my favorite places to travel to, and our trip this last summer was better than I could have imagined. That said, there is a lot to consider when planning a trip to Mallorca, and you’ll want to do so in advance.

Accommodations are one of the most important parts of planning a successful trip to this idyllic island, and there is something for everyone. I feel like you could easily spend several weeks and still not see the whole island. My guide to the best towns to stay in Mallorca covers a lot of what we love on the island.

My recommendation is always to split time on the west near Deià or Valldemossa and then on the east side of the island near Santayní. I think a place on the coast and then in a village would give you a great feel for island life. Then don’t forget about Palma as well for an intrinsic city experience.

Whether you’re looking for a luxurious adults-only resort or a more intimate and low-key spot, my picks for the 15 best hotels in Mallorca are here to help ease the stress of the planning process!

What to Know Before Traveling to Mallorca

When is the Best Time to Come?

Since summer is the busy season in Mallorca, the crowds can become pretty intense. I highly recommend avoiding Mallorca between July and August. Instead, try to visit May to June or September to October for nice weather and smaller crowds.

Do I Need a Rental Car?

Yes! A rental car in Mallorca is a must in my opinion. Public transportation can get crowded and confusing, and the freedom to explore more hidden and rural areas is best accomplished with your own car. Visit Discover Cars for car rental deals.

When to Book?

Boutique hotels can sell out fast here, especially in summer, so I recommend booking as far in advance as possible.

How Many Days?

When planning your trip, I would recommend a minimum of five nights in Mallorca. That said, a full week should be plenty to get a feel.

1. Book Your Flights

I use Skyscanner to find the best flights. It searches 100s of airlines and websites across the globe to ensure you’re not missing out on any route options or deals.

2. Book Your Accommodations

I use Booking.com for hotels and guest houses. They have the biggest inventory and consistently offer the best rates.

3. Book Your Tours & Experiences

I use Viator or Get Your Guide to find the best tours and experiences. They are my favorite tour search engines. I always check both as their inventory varies depending on the destination.

4. Book Your Rental Car

Self-driving is the best way to explore most destinations. I use Discover Cars for our rental cars, select full coverage insurance, and opt for a reputable company like Alamo, Hertz, or Sixt.

5. Don’t Forget Airport Lounge Access

I use Priority Pass to gain access to 1,400+ VIP lounges and airport experiences worldwide. The Priority Pass app is the first thing I check when I have a layover. I’ve been a member for over a decade, and having a comfortable place to relax before and between flights makes air travel so much more enjoyable.

6. Don’t Forget Travel Insurance

I never leave the country without travel insurance. It provides comprehensive protection in case anything goes wrong (ie. illness, injury, theft, and cancelations, etc.). I use it frequently for my travels to stay protected.

My favorite companies that offer the best coverage and rates are:
